In the surroundings, Piegaro offers interesting opportunities for visits: in Castiglion Fosco, a small medieval village characteristic for its particular cylindrical tower, the Church of Santa Croce; in the medieval village of Cibottola the Castle, the Church of San Fortunato and the Convent of San Bartolomeo; in Gaiche the Castle (13th century), the Church of San Lorenzo (1391) and the Oratory of San Bernardino, in Greppolischieto the Church of San Lorenzo (14th century); in Pietrafitta the Abbey of the Seven Friars (11th-12th century), the Church of Madonna del Fosso and Santa Maria Assunta. In the area of Pietrafitta there are ancient lignite deposits due to the ancient presence of Lake Tiberino.
